On May 30, a letter of appreciation was presented to Yuzuki Kawamura (3), a child from Tokushima City, by the chief of the Tokushima Itano Police Station, for finding opium poppies in a vacant lot in the city and reporting it to the police. The chief expressed his gratitude, saying that the city’s peace was protected by his courageous action.

According to the police, he and her mother were out for a walk at around 3:30pm on April 13 when they spotted strange flowers with a mixture of light purple and vermilion colors. He is a big flower lover, so he and her mom looked it up on the internet and found it was opium poppy, and reported it to the police.

The police appreciated that it led to early removal. Yuzuki smiled and said, “I want to continue learning about different flowers and insects”.
