Barnes John Brian William, a British National was arrested for smuggling over1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine into Japan by hiding it in a travel bag brought from Germany.
The man had hidden the methamphetamine in a double-layered section of his travel bag. The terminal value was approximately 73.5 million yen, which he brought into Fukuoka Airport with the intent to profit.
During questioning, Barnes reportedly denied the allegations, saying, “I received the bag from a male acquaintance in the Republic of South Africa. I didn’t know there were drugs inside.”
