Four Vietnamese men were arrested and re-arrested on additional charges for breaking into vacant houses in Fukuoka and three other prefectures, stealing items such as pendants and rings. The total damages are estimated at 157 incidents, amounting to approximately 4.65 million yen.
The suspects, all Vietnamese nationals and unemployed, include Do Huu Canh (27), Pham Van Thanh (22), Do Dat (25), and Do Sy Hong Quang (24).
The four are accused of breaking into a vacant house in Onojo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, in April this year, where they allegedly stole two items, including a pendant, worth a total of 1.3 million yen.
Police confirmed their involvement in a total of 157 incidents that occurred between December last year and June this year, primarily in Fukuoka Prefecture, as well as in Ibaraki, Saitama, and Chiba Prefectures. The total damages amounted to about 4.65 million yen.
Of these, five cases, with total damages of approximately 1.3 million yen, were substantiated. The suspects were arrested and re-arrested for these cases, and the investigation has concluded.
According to police, the group assigned specific roles to each member, such as driver, lookout, and perpetrator. They reportedly broke into vacant houses by heating and breaking windows and then stole items like rings.
During questioning, all four admitted to the charges. They reportedly sold the stolen jewelry and other valuables for cash.
