A South Korean man was arrested in Kitakyushu for crashing his car into a police car.

Around 6 PM on the 26th in Yahatanishi Ward, a patrolling police officer noticed a car driving while straddling the center line.

When the officer attempted to stop the car for questioning, the driver fled.

The police pursued the car for about 2 kilometers until it entered a dead-end street and came to a stop. Suddenly, the car reversed and collided with the patrol car.

The collision damaged the front side of the patrol car and the rear right bumper of the suspect’s car. However, neither the police officer, the driver, nor a woman in the passenger seat sustained any injuries.

The suspect, identified as Cho Chang-nam, a 55-year-old self-proclaimed construction worker residing in Fukuoka Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing official duties due to the collision.

During questioning, Cho admitted, “It’s true that the car I was driving collided with the patrol car, but I didn’t hit it on purpose,” denying the allegations.

Regarding why he fled, Cho reportedly stated, “My driver’s license was revoked about five years ago. I thought I’d be in serious trouble if I didn’t run.”
