On August 20, the Osaka Prefectural Police and Osaka Customs Kansai Airport branch arrested Mohamad Taufiqillah Bin Mohamad Razi, 28, a Malaysian National, for violating the Methamphetamine Control Law. The Osaka District Prosecutor’s Office charged him with the offense.

He is suspected of smuggling approximately 7.7 kg of methamphetamine (terminal value of about 510 million yen) concealed in a suitcase upon arrival at Kansai International Airport from Malaysia on July 21.

According to the customs branch, it was discovered during a customs inspection upon entering the country. The drug had been placed inside a laminated sheet, which was divided into 147 thin sheets. The sheets were used as partition paper for clothing and hidden behind documents in ring files.
