A Japanese YouTuber has been arrested for gambling with real money at an online casino. The man was live-streaming his gambling activities to viewers.
The arrested individual is Ryuki Miyata, a self-proclaimed YouTuber from Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, aged 30.
Miyata is suspected of engaging in online gambling on a online casino site from September of last year until April of this year, on six different occasions.
According to the police, Miyata received compensation for live-streaming his gambling activities on YouTube. It is believed that he started streaming around November 2019 and received approximately 30 million yen in rewards and other payments (approx $200,000USD)
During questioning, Miyata stated, “I can’t answer anything until I speak with a lawyer.”
