Around 2:20 a.m. on the 20th, a 28-year-old woman living on the first floor of a two-story apartment building in Okawa City called the police, saying, “A stranger is taking a shower.”
According to the police, the woman lives alone. She was sleeping in her bed when the sound of the shower woke her up. When she went to check, she found a naked man she didn’t know.
The woman immediately fled and was not injured. When police arrived in response to her call, they found the man still taking a shower naked.
The man, a 43-year-old claims to be a carpenter, was caught in the act and arrested on suspicion of unlawful entry. After questioning, the man admitted to entering the apartment but said, “I thought I was in my own home” and “I’m surprised I was arrested.”
The man was reportedly drunk, did not have a key, and carried no identification showing his address. The woman had not locked her door, and the man is believed to have entered through the front entrance.
Police are continuing to investigate the details of the incident.
