Saki Sudo, 28, an ex-wife of Kosuke Nozaki, a wealthy man known as the “Don Juan of Kishu (Wakayama),” was accused of cheating another man out of approximately 29.8 million yen in the form of fees for studying abroad. The defendant was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.

The period she was detained before sentencing (860 days) will be deducted from the sentence.

The murder and violation of the Methamphetamine Control Act charges against his ex-husband, Nozaki, have been separated, and the first trial is scheduled to be held on December 12.

The defendant and the man met at a hostess club in Sapporo, where she worked while attending beauty school. The defendants admitted that she had received money form the man under false pretenses, such as studying abroad, and the issue was whether the man had been deceived into believing the lies.

In previous trials, the prosecution argued that the man’s testimony that he believed was credible, because he had sent emails supporting her study abroad. The defense, on the other hand, claimed that he was only responding to the defendant’s wishes for her body and that she wasn’t guilty of fraud. The defendant actually spent approximately 29.8 million yen on travel and brand-name goods.

She told the man in the beginning, “I want to be a hairdresser. So I work in a hostess club to pay for tuition. My parents don’t pay for it.” Hearing this, the man said he wanted to support her dream and began to transfer money to her as school fees and living expenses.

The defendant quit the bar at the man’s request and began receiving a monthly “salary” of 200,000 yen as well as allowance when she met him. It was also revealed at the trial that she had received a large amount of cash in addition to the approximately 29.8 million yen she was charged with.
