Vietnamese National Arrested for Stabbing Viet Buddy in Retaliation

A 27-year-old Vietnamese man living in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture was arrested for attempted murder, for stabbing his coworker and roommate. The roommate, 29, was also arrested for cutting his arm.

According to investigations, at around 10:30 PM on the 15th of this month, the 27-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 29-year-old coworker and housemate in the abdomen with a knife in an attempt to kill him.

The 27-year-old admitted to the stabbing, but denies intent to kill.

Meanwhile, the stabbed 29-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assault for slashing the other man’s left arm with a knife-like object. He denies the charges, stating, “I didn’t do anything.”

The two men were coworkers at the same workplace and lived together with another technical intern, making a total of three housemates.

According to the police, at the time of the incident, multiple people, including the two men, had gathered in the room. A witness stated that their one-on-one “fight escalated.”

The Yonago Police Department is investigating the details and motives of the incident.
