On the 28th, a joint investigative team from the Ibaraki and Fukushima Prefectural Police arrested two Vietnamese Nationals, on suspicion of breaking into a house and attempting theft of an empty house in Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture.
The arrested suspects are a 29-year-old unemployed man from Ibaraki Prefecture, who has been indicted on charges of breaking and entering and robbery, and a 33-year-old unemployed man with an unknown address, who has been indicted on charges of breaking and entering and theft.
The two are suspected of conspiring together to break into an empty house in Inawashiro Town, owned by a 58-year-old female office worker from Koriyama City, and rummaging through the interior on August 15 of last year. The Ibaraki Prefectural Police have not disclosed their responses to the charges, citing the potential for hindering the investigation. According to the police from both Ibaraki and Fukushima Prefectures, the two men were discovered by a neighbor while they were inside the house, and they fled the scene, likely using a vehicle for their escape.
The two had already been arrested for their involvement in a robbery incident that took place in Hitachiomiya City, Ibaraki Prefecture in June of last year. The investigative team is continuing their investigation, suspecting that the two may have been involved in a series of thefts targeting vacant houses across both Fukushima and Ibaraki Prefectures.
