The husband and wife owners of a dispatch-style escort service in Japan, who brought in a Thai woman under the pretense of tourism and had her work, have been arrested.
The owners of the shop, Katsunari Oba, 38 and his wife, Hambul Wawika who is Thai, 30, are suspected of illegally forcing five Thai women to work at the shop in September this year after they came to Japan with false declarations of tourist purposes.
Reportedly, each of the Thai women received between 200,000 and 600,000 yen from the shop over a period of about two weeks.
It’s believed that Oba and his wife recruited employees by word of mouth, giving them an introduction fee of 200,000 yen, and that so far they have hired approximately 40 Thai women, and they sleep in their office.
