Man Arrested for Selling Counterfeit Rolex Watch

A 59-Year-Old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud and trademark law violation, for selling counterfeit Rolex watches to a pawnshop.

The detail of the arrest is that the suspect sold a wristwatch by falsely claiming it was made by Rolex to a pawnshop in Gifu City, thereby infringing on trademark rights and fraudulently obtained 1.25 million yen in cash. After police reports and confirming with manufacturer it was fake, the arrest was made.

The suspect denies the charges, stating, “I thought it was genuine.”
