Daigo Nobumasa (58), was arrested for illegally selling ivory from elephants at risk of extenction by falsely labeling it as “mammoth ivory” online.
Elephants are designated as internationally protected endangered wildlife and are subject to strict domestic regulations. The buying and selling of ivory is only permitted if it complies with legal controls, such as registering as a manufacturer or seller with the government.
