Love Hotels Targeted Over Street Prostitution

0

In response to the rise in women engaging in prostitution on the street of Kabukicho, the Tokyo Police Department’s Security Division conducted simultaneous raids across 62 Love Hotels in the area. Checking for compliance with the “Businesses Affecting Public Morals Regulation Act” and asking for cooperation from Love Hotels in thwarting prostitution in the area. A first for the department.

The women involved in street prostitution are often indebted to the host clubs of the area, loitering around Okubo Park and engaging in prostitution at nearby love hotels.

The investigation was carried out by a team of about 30 officers checking for signs prohibiting the entry of minors and distributing flyers raising awareness of the issue.

Staff were asked to report on individuals suspected of prostitution who frequent their hotels multiple times a day with different men.
