On the 18th, a 26-year-old man, who claimed to be an office worker visiting Japan from South Korea as a tourist, was arrested at JR Kokura Station. He attempted to film up the skirt of a woman standing in front of him on an escalator.
Just before 9 A.M., a man standing behind the suspect on the ascending escalator at JR Kokura Station noticed the suspicious behavior. The suspect was seen inserting a smartphone under the skirt of the woman ahead. The man who witnessed this immediately reported it to the police and followed the suspect.
Upon examining his smartphone, officers found video footage taken on the escalator that did not show any specific images of underwear but suggested an attempt was made. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of attempting to take voyeuristic footage.
The arrested man, identified as Seo Bok-Won (26), claimed to be an office worker visiting from South Korea. During interrogation, he admitted to the charges and reportedly stated that he did it “to satisfy his sexual urges.”
