Former Takarazuka Revue actress and current executive at an events company, Yumi Okabe (67), and her accomplice, a Korean national, have been arrested on suspicion of committing fraud by deceiving an elderly woman, known as a “patron,” and taking ¥20 million from her.
According to investigators, approximately seven years ago, Okabe and the Korean falsely explained to a woman in her 70s, residing in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, that significant profits could be gained through a land transaction, convincing her to provide ¥20 million in cash.
The victim, who is associated with the Takarazuka Revue as a “patron,” grew suspicious when no repayment occurred, leading her to report the incident to the police. It is believed that the funds were used for Okabe’s company, which was facing financial difficulties. Okabe denies the allegations, stating that while she received ¥20 million, she did not intend to deceive the victim.
Authorities have not disclosed Okabe’s stance on the charges, but investigations are ongoing, considering the possibility of additional offenses.
