According to the police, at around 10:40 PM on the 22nd, in Eba Tunnel in Hiroshima City, a two-person motorcycle fleeing from a police pursuit crashed into the outer wall at the tunnel entrance.
As a result of the accident, Tuppak Hamonangan Nami Padang (22), an Indonesian National who was on the motorcycle, was transported to a hospital but later died. The 30-year-old Japanese man riding with him sustained serious injuries, including fractures.
Police initially spotted the two-person motorcycle leaving a convenience store parking lot and entering a city road without wearing helmets.
They activated their red lights and siren and pursued the fleeing motorcycle for approximately 140 meters before the motorcycle crashed in a single-vehicle accident.
The police commented, “At this point, we believe the pursuit was conducted appropriately.”
