A 19-year-old Indonesian woman living in Kagoshima City was sent to the family court on suspicion of murder after allegedly killing her newborn daughter. On January 23, the Kagoshima Family Court decided to extend her protective custody, originally set to last until January 28, until February 11.
According to the prefectural police, the woman, who worked as a caregiver, gave birth to the baby girl in the restroom of a group home where she was employed. She is suspected of having inflicted some form of violence on the newborn, resulting in her death. The woman was sent to the prosecutors on December 27 and referred to the family court on January 15 this year.
