In October, on a street in Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, a 30-year-old Indian national was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old woman and engaging in indecent acts such as kissing her. The suspect denies the charges, claiming that the woman had consented.
The arrested suspect is identified as Edakkavil Kottayil Shaheer, a 30-year-old Indian national, who is facing charges of indecent assault without consent.
According to the investigation, on the evening of October 13, after 9 P.M., Shaheer allegedly hugged the woman on the street, grabbed her chin to lift her face, and forcibly kissed her.
Police reports indicate that Shaheer had previously visited the store where the woman worked part-time and developed a liking for her. On the day of the incident, he approached her outside the store after her shift ended, lured her into a narrow alley, and proceeded with the indecent acts.
During questioning, Shaheer admitted to the acts, including kissing, but denied the charges, insisting that the woman had also consented.
