A Filipino National was arrested on suspicion of smuggling methamphetamine from the Philippines to Fukuoka.
The suspect, Oishi Amelita Baboa, 36, a Filipino National from Chikushino, Fukuoka Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Methamphetamine Control Act.
According to customs and airport police, the suspect boarded an aircraft on June 30 in the Philippines with approximately 4.07 grammes of methamphetamine, with a terminal value of approximately 260,000 yen, hidden under her feet and smuggled it into Japan via Fukuoka Airport.
The suspect was discovered during a customs check at Fukuoka Airport, where she wrapped methamphetamine in a transparent plastic bag with white gauze tape, attached it to the sole of her foot with adhesive tape, and concealed it by wearing a sock and a shoe.
She has admitted to the investigation that she brought it to Japan to use it herself and that she was using it to relieve stress.
She also stated that she bought it from a dealer in the Philippines and that she used it every time she returned to the country.
