On September 24th, Chiba Prefectural Police arrested a self-proclaimed freelance worker, Keito Komatsu (22), on suspicion of assault.
“Komatsu is suspected of repeatedly assaulting his girlfriend, Mizuki Saito (24), for about 20 minutes on the early morning of September 10th, causing her injuries. Saito was later transported to a hospital and died. While the cause of death remains unknown according to the results of the autopsy, the police are considering pursuing charges of fatal assault,” said a reporter from the society department.
The 119 emergency call came from a condominium located about a 5-minute walk from JR Kashiwa Station on the evening of the 23rd.

The person who made the emergency call was none other than Keito Komatsu, the one who had caused the injuries. By the time the police and firefighters arrived, Mizuki Saito had already fallen and would never return.
“Komatsu has admitted to the allegations in police interviews. The two were in a relationship. Until shortly before his arrest, Komatsu worked as a nightclub host in Kashiwa, and Saito also worked as a hostess. They even worked at the same establishment,” the society department reporter stated.
Komatsu subjected his girlfriend to severe assault, leaving her unattended at home for over ten days until her death.
