A Chinese national was arrested on suspicion of negligent driving causing injury after a car collision at a city road intersection in Hachinohe City left a woman seriously injured.
The arrested individual, identified as Chen Minghui, a 33-year-old company employee claiming to reside in Hong Kong, is accused of driving a passenger car that collided with a car approaching from the right at an intersection just before 11 A.M. on Dec. 10. The driver of the car, a 74-year-old woman, suffered multiple rib fractures as a result of the accident. Her injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening.
The intersection had a stop sign on Chen’s side of the road. According to the police investigation, Chen stated that he was traveling at the time of the incident and that the car he was driving was a rental. He also holds an international driver’s license.
The Hachinohe Police Station is conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances and cause of the accident.
