A Chinese man was arrested in Tokyo’s Ota ward for a hit-and-run incident involving a bicycle while his license was revoked.

The suspect, Shen Fengxiang (32), had been on the run in China for about six months. In July, he allegedly collided with a man in his 30’s who was cycling while Shen was driving with a revoked license in Ota Ward’s Hagi-naka area. After the collision, Shen fled the scene.

The male victim suffered injuries to his chest, among other areas. According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, Shen’s license had been revoked at the time due to multiple traffic violations, including running multiple red lights.

Following the accident, Shen had been evading authorities in China for six months. However, upon his return to Japan this month, he was apprehended at Narita Airport.

He reportedly admitted, “I thought it would be bad if they found out about my revoked license, so I returned to China.”
