Two men, including a 36-year-old Chinese National and company executive, were arrested by the Miyagi Prefectural Police for employing a Nepalese person without a valid work permit at a scrap buying company in Ibaraki Prefecture, after his period of stay had expired.
The Nepalese man had already been arrested and indicted in February 2025 on suspicion of overstaying illegally, and this crime came to light during that investigation.
The police have not disclosed the two suspects’ statements, citing concerns that it may hinder the investigation, and are continuing to look into the matter.
