A Chinese National has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a man living in the neighboring apartment with the intent to kill him and setting the building on fire in Ichikawa City.
The suspect, 22-year-old Jin Chengxu, is accused of repeatedly striking the head of his 27-year-old neighbor with a tool before setting fire to the building in November. He faces charges of attempted murder and arson.
The apartment complex was three stories high, and the fire completely destroyed the second floor. According to the police, after setting the fire, Jin fled on the victim’s motorbike and was later apprehended outside Chiba Prefecture.
Police believe there was a dispute between the two and are investigating further.
