According to investigators at around 9:15 a.m. on the 8th, a foreign woman in her 20’s was found collapsed and bleeding inside an apartment on the fourth floor of the Jonanaga Prefectural Housing Complex in Showa Town. When police arrived, they found what appeared to be stab wounds on the woman’s abdomen, and although she was in cardiopulmonary arrest at the scene, she was later confirmed dead.
Arrested on suspicion of abandoning a corpse was Miyakawa Sidinei Tokio, a 49-year-old Brazilian National living in Kamikawahigashi, Showa Town. According to police, Miyakawa is suspected of leaving the woman’s body in the apartment between around 10:00 p.m. on the 7th and 9:15 a.m. on the 8th.
Police began investigating the case on suspicion of murder, and detained Miyakawa—believed to have been at the scene—in Tokyo for questioning. After confirming grounds for the charge of corpse abandonment, they arrested him. Authorities also believe Miyakawa knows details about the woman’s death and plan to investigate further.
