A 32-year-old Australian man was arrested for repeatedly hitting the face of a 38-year-old Indian man in the face with a selfie stick in Sapporo Hokkaido. The victim suffered bleeding from the face and was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were minor.
At the time, the two happened to run into each other on the street, but for some reason, a conflict broke out, leading to the assault.
A friend of the victim, who was with him at the time, went to the Susukino police box and reported that “my friend is in a dispute,” which led to the discovery of the incident.
Following an investigation, police arrested the suspect in Asahikawa City, where he was staying, on February 13. During questioning, the suspect denied the charges, stating, “I didn’t hit him with a stick. It’s all lies.”
According to police, both men are video streamers and had some kind of trouble in the past.
The suspect was visiting Japan as a tourist, and police are continuing to investigate the details of the incident.
