A 50-year-old man from Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, has been arrested for deceiving an elderly woman and withdrawing 1.5 million yen using her cash card.

The suspect, Anhiro Ishibashi, who is currently unemployed, allegedly conspired with accomplices in June. They posed as police officers and made false phone calls to an elderly woman in her 80s, who resides in Setagaya Ward. They managed to trick her into giving them three cash cards and withdrew a total of 1.5 million yen.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, Ishibashi applied for an underground part-time job that promised ‘high-income gigs’ and was introduced to the job through a highly confidential communication app, with the job being described as a ‘super successful opportunity.’ He received instructions for the crime through this app.

Ishibashi has admitted to the charges, stating that he applied for the underground job due to a lack of money.
