Four arrested, including Korean, for trafficking methamphetamine

Four individuals, including a South Korean man in his 50s and three Japanese, were arrested by police in Fukui Prefecture for possessing and using stimulants. Approximately 135 grams of stimulants were seized – the largest amount in a case investigated solely by the prefectural police since 1989.

Investigative authorities announced on December 5th that they had arrested Kim Yuji (51), a South Korean national, a company executive living in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, on suspicion of violating the Methamphetamine Control Act. Also they arrested Furui Tokiyoshi (61), an unemployed man live in Tsuruga City on the same charge, and two men: a 42-year-old painting contractor and a 43-year-old painter on charges of purchasing the drug.

Suspects Kim and Furuichi are alleged to have conspired to possess 0.9 grams of stimulant drugs at Furuichi’s home on October20 with the intent to sell them, and to have used it.

The painter is suspected of possessing 0.7 grams of stimulant drugs at his home on November 17, the painting contractor is suspected of purchasing a small quantity of the drug for approximately 50,000 Yen on the 15 of last month.

According to the Prefectural Police Organized Crime Countermeasures Division, Kim and Furui are dealers, while the other two men are customers.
