A Vietnamese national has been charged by Nagoya Customs with attempting to smuggle narcotics from the United Kingdom concealed within powdered milk.
Phan Van Tuan (24), a Vietnamese national living in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture is suspected violation of the Customs Act.
According to Nagoya Customs, Phan is suspected of conspiring with someone else in October this year to smuggle approximately 200 grams of ketamine from the United Kingdom.
The substance were concealed inside a powdered milk container within a cardboard box and were discovered by customs officers at Chubu Centrair International Airport.
Nagoya Customs has not disclosed whether Phan has admitted or denied the allegations, but is investigating on the grounds that he attempted to smuggle the goods for the purpose of sale.
