A woman arrested in Kyoto for providing illegal sexual services has been re-arrested on suspicion of overstaying her visa in Japan for over a year.

The suspect, Shi Jing (36), a Chinese national, is accused of staying illegally in Japan for more than a year despite only being granted permission for a 15-day stay. She reportedly worked at massage parlors, including one operated by another suspect, Li Meixia (38).

Both women were initially arrested in November on suspicion of offering illegal sexual services at a store in Kyoto.

According to police, Shi lived and worked at the store, earning approximately 3.5 million yen in revenue over two months leading up to November.

During questioning, Shi admitted to the charges. However, Li has denied allegations of harboring an overstayer, claiming, “I didn’t know she was overstaying her visa.”
