A 30-year-old Mongolian national, who claims to live in Nagano Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of non-consensual sexual acts.
According to the police, the man allegedly approached a woman in her 20’s from behind at around 12:40 a.m., while she was walking alone on a street in Chuo Ward, Niigata City. He reportedly covered her mouth and inserted his fingers into her lower body.
The man fled the scene, but the woman immediately called the police to report the incident. Through their investigation, the police identified the man and arrested him on December 9.
The suspect, employed by a company in Niigata Prefecture, reportedly lived in Niigata at the time of the crime. However, he has since moved to Nagano Prefecture for work-related reasons.
The woman stated that she had no prior acquaintance with the man. Investigators are still determining whether the suspect knew the woman.
The man denies the allegations, stating, “I touched her underwear, but I did not insert my fingers.” Police are continuing their investigation.
