Hiroyuki Chigira, 49, a suspect with an unknown occupation was caught red-handed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police on suspicion of attempted murder, stating that he met the victim around June on a dating app and spent money at the bar. The Tokyo PD is investigating the case as having financial troubles behind it.
Chigira was caught red-handed stabbing Yuna Tanizawa, 18, an employee, in the neck and other parts of her body with a knife in the bar on the morning of October 27. He admitted to the charges, saying he stabbed her with a knife he had brought with him, but later remained silent.
Earlier this month, the police received a report from her that a man she met on a dating app had stolen approximately 10,000 yen from her wallet, and the police believe Chigira was the culprit. On October 28, the police sent the suspect to the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of murder and a violation of the Firearms Control Law.
