In the early morning on October 21, an American boy, who had come to Japan as a tourist, was arrested in Tokyo, for setting fire to a container used for recycling.
According to the police, the 18-year-old boy of American nationality is suspected of setting fire to a reuse collection container near the entrance of an apartment in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, shortly after 3 A.M.
The boy came to Japan with his family on October 9 for sightseeing, visited Senso-ji Temple, Disneyland and other places, and was due to return home on October 23.
The boy denied the charge to investigators, saying “I don’t remember”.
Six other suspicious fires have occurred within a two-kilometer radius of Chuo and Sumida wards since October 21, including burning garbage stations, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating the connection.
