On June 25, the Osaka High Prosecutors’ Office arrested Kentaro Kitagawa, 64, a lawyer, on suspicion of quasi-forcible sexual intercourse. The suspect Kitagawa is said to be a big name, working important positions such as Chief Prosecutor of the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office and Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Supreme Public Prosecutors Office, which is a surprise to those involved.

The suspect was appointed Chief Prosecutor of the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office in 2018. The alleged offense was committed during his tenure as Chief Prosecutor and was reportedly committed against a female subordinate at a government building. However, the Osaka High Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t revealed the specific details, citing privacy of the victim.

The subordinate was said to have been intoxicated.
