The Yachiyo Police Station announced on the 26th that they had arrested four Vietnamese Nationals—two men and two women, including a 32-year-old woman claiming to be a temporary worker residing in Chiba City—on suspicion of robbery resulting in injury.
The arrest charges allege that the four conspired to abduct a Vietnamese woman in her 20’s from her workplace in Yachiyo City by car between 11:50 PM on the 14th and 12:15 AM on the 15th. They reportedly threatened her on the street in Yachiyo City, saying, “If you don’t pay 200,000 yen, we’ll kill you.” They then strangled her, and forced her to withdraw 80,000 yen in cash from an ATM at a nearby convenience store.
According to the police, all four suspects deny the charges. The suspects are related to one another. The victim had been living in an apartment owned by the 32-year-old woman claiming to be a temporary worker and had been charged 200,000 yen for move-out costs and repairs.
