On the 12th, three Vietnamese men were arrested in Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture, on suspicion of stealing copper wire from a solar power plant in Yamaguchi City earlier this month.
The suspects, all Vietnamese nationals, include a 28-year-old man Bùi Văn Đức, a 31-year-old man Nguyễn Quốc Tân, and a 29-year-old man Trần Trung Đức.
According to police, the men are suspected of stealing approximately 4.4 tons of copper wire, worth an estimated 51.2 million yen, from a solar power plant in Yamaguchi City between the evening of the 9th and the morning of the 10th.
The Okayama Prefectural Police had been on alert after receiving information from the Yamaguchi Prefectural Police about a vehicle believed to be involved in the theft. They discovered the vehicle in Tsuyama City on the 11th, conducted the necessary investigations, and identified the suspects. The stolen copper wire has not been recovered.
