The Yamagata District Public Prosecutors Office indicted two men of Sri Lankan Nationality for the large-scale theft of power cables from a solar power facility in Yuza Town.
According to the indictment, the two men, along with an accomplice, are accused of stealing approximately 1300 meters of power cables from a solar power facility in Yuza Town between August 10 and 11, 2024.
The total value of the stolen cables is approximately 5.43 million yen. Through the investigation, police discovered that the cables had been sold to a metal recycling dealer in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the two men were identified through security camera footage.
